Architectural Design Programs

Architectural Design Programs

A design program is created during the early portion of the design process which includes stating the problem.  In school, this is the project that is worked on in studio, whether it be a museum or school, each program contains information on the requirements for the space to start the designer off in the right direction.  Typically it includes a list of rooms and functions needed, along with approximate or specific sizes for these rooms.  In the business world of architecture, these details are usually found in the contract and are seldom seen by anyone other than the head designer and project manager.

The below list of programs is very general and only attempts to provide some clarity on how to begin designing various types of architecture by providing data on what is needed for a successful design.
